WHAT IS GAMBLING ADDICTION
& PROBLEM GAMBLING?
Problem Gambling Affects Hundreds of Thousands in Tennessee
Gambling addiction can manifest itself in many ways, including increased preoccupation with gambling activities, difficulty or distress when cutting back or stopping, gambling to avoid difficult emotions, and harm to your finances, relationships, work, or overall well-being.
Gambling sometimes causes harm in a person’s life. If your gambling causes you significant harm, and despite that harm, you continue to gamble, then you have a problem. People label this gambling problem as an addiction.
Oftentimes, gambling problems are stigmatized as a failure of self-control, which is not the case. Efforts to stop or reduce gambling can be difficult, despite continued harm or financial distress. For this reason, The Gambling Clinic® in Tennessee offers help to those experiencing harm from gambling.
